Global Dimension
Trust
At Mickleton Primary School we have forged a new
link with Siron Primary School in Kenya. Through this our pupils are
learning about the life and culture of children in Africa. We are
looking particularly at what is grown in both of our countries and at
the issue of water, both drought and flood. We are hoping that Siron
Primary School will soon have access to the internet so that we can
communicate by email. In the meantime, we are writing letters and
setting up ‘pen-pals’ for the older children.
Over the February half-term Mrs Geary visited Kenya
and worked in Siron School. She made lots of new friends and was able to
teach the Kenyan children. The blog below gives you much more detail
about her visit and there are lots of pictures in school.
We hope that the Kenyan link teacher will visit
Mickleton at the end of April. We will let you know the exact dates so
that you can meet her yourselves.
Over the next year we aim to raise money to support
Siron and to learn a bit more about Kenya. We would love families from
Mickleton School and village to be involved too.
At present we are collecting pencils and small
plastic bowls to send back to Kenya, along with small teddy bears for
each class. If you would like to help, please contact us.
